Hygiene in Pregnancy
When we talk about hygiene
in pregnancy we are referring to those behavioural norms which regard the
pregnant woman’ s daily life. These are a physiological conditions, of course, but
it’ s important to respect some essential and easy rules in the management
of the daily life, so the woman can conserve her
health and avoid any sorts of pathological conditions.
Working activity
The working activity can be
continued in pregnancy if it doesn’ t involve an excessive physical
engagement, or an exposure to any sorts of traumas, or contact with toxic
substances. Obviously, this concept
is very important and it means that you should be careful with sports, vacations,
hobbys, and so on. The
Italian law says that you have to stop working in the two months before your
child’ s birth and that you can start working again only three months after
the delivery. If there are pathologies of the pregnancy, the woman, after she
has been visited by her doctor, can ask to stop working some time before.
Travels
In a physiological pregnancy there
aren’ t particular contraindications. Of course, the travel should be as much confortable as you can plan it.
Obviously,
for the long distances the best way to travel is by plane. The risks that you
can find in a journey are usually because of the distance, that means that is
more difficult to find a doctor or any sorts of aid.
Sexual activity
There aren’ t problems about the sexual activity in a physiological pregnancy . Of course, in a pregnancy with an easy tendency to the contratcility of the uterus is useful and safer to limit the sexual activity. Obviously you should avoid sexual intercourses if you notice vaginal bleeding or in presence of pathologies with risk of preterem delivery or abortion.
Smoking
We all know that smoking can
seriously damage the fetus’ health. Smoker’ s children might havet the
intrauterine growth retardation (IUGR) with low weight at the birth.
And it
seems that a less oxygenation of the
smoker mother might involve a less oxygenation of the fetus, which can be
damaged.
Alcoholic drinks The woman should never drink any
sorts of alcoholics beverages in pregnancy. If she abuses of alcoholics drinks (
too much alchol for too much time)
the fetus might presents a true “fetal alcohol syndrome", with several
fetal anomalies.
Drugs
In pregnancy the woman should get a
pharmachological treatment
only if her doctor has told her to do it. There
are many drugs which can be used without probelms, but remeber that there are
some medicines which might involve some risks for the fetus. The most critical
moment in pregnancy is the 1st trimester, because the fetus is
forming, with all his organs, and some medicines might damage them, and the
fetus. Anyway, the woman must be careful
for all her pregnancy, and use any medicine only after she has asked to her
doctor. If you want to deepen this topic, you can look for more informations the
